Studios

Our studios are based on the first floor of a large warehouse with good natural light provided by skylights and windows down one side of the premises.  We have 24-hour access, with gates locked after nightfall and a security guard on duty.  There is an industrial lift available and trolleys to help move items from the car park up to the first floor.

The space is partitioned into studios which surround a central gallery space.  Each has a lockable door, but do not have ceilings. Two blower heaters, which are on timers, are suspended from the roof and provide heating during the winter months. There is a shared kitchen and toilets which are cleaned and maintained by the landlords. 

History

Cor Blimey Arts Limited is run by a group of five trustees and has twenty-six artist members.

The group has three current studio sites:  London Deptford and Woolwich, plus Crewkerne, Somerset.  It has been based at different locations over the years since its incorporation: The trustees have been working together since 1992, first via the Lewisham Visual Arts Festival and then at the Lewisham Arthouse (where they were founder members).  Several years were spent in Catherine Grove Studios in Greenwich, followed by relocation to Pepys Estate and then to Beresford Street, Woolwich.  The Deptford Studios are its newest addition, opening in February 2005.
