The Truth is Rarely Pure and Never Simple – Private View

GILLIAN BEST POWELL - ARNOLD BORGERTH - LIZZIE CANNON - ROSALIND DAVIS - KASIA FIALKOWSKA - ENVER GURSEV – KELDA HOLE - LING TING KAO - NEIL KELLY - JAMES MACAFEE - ELIZABETH MURTON - REBEKAH NAREWESKI - CHANTELLE PURCELL - NICOLA WILLS

Exhibition by studio members of Cor Blimey Arts in Deptford, selected by Silvia Battista. The exhibition reflects a diversity of artworks which through its often complex creation, is infused with significance. The series of concerns we address as artists as we craft our work is never simple and draws on a multitude of external factors as we play with ideas of truth and meaning, the seen and the unseen.

This is the first in a series of fine art exhibitions for the London Festival Fringe www.londonfestivalfringe.com

"The Plb series".
For the exhibition, I have been inspired by "plb schnzl", a fictionnal character -or a noise- that I used as pseudonym.

Working with somebody else's identity opened up new possibilities for my work - which means I had plenty of good excuses to be as outlandish and irrational as I fancied -. The pieces I made are playful, nonsensical and disturbing at the same time.

There are faceless princesses, non-descript business men, shady Uncle Sam waving from a kebab skewer, enlighened Lego-man going through the crowd of Pierros, small kings and scuba divers... The world as it really is!

A show with a lot to look at. We will have paintings and small texts I mounted on paper and cardboard. I even made up a song for the occasion. A song about bullying.

13 – 29 June Solo exhibition by Julian Woodward

30 May-2 June LONGLOST FRIENDs

PRIVATE VIEW: 30 May 2008 at 18:30

Using discarded toys as building blocks to form sculptures, adorn clothing and nature, Ozden Demir and Alp Gokalp create art pieces that takes you back to your childhood memories. Toys that are no longer with children, all gathered from charity shops all around London, evoke playful memories of childhood thus bringing a new approach to "grown up life".
The works are not only about self-projection but also exploring children's' inspiration, imagination, fascination and memories. In this unusual show the viewer is asked to indulge in the playfulness. Perhaps you will re-unite with a "longlost friend" that you have given up among the works.

An old feeling from childhood… It may be emotional or may be not?

Deptford X Festiva/ X-Pose Exhibition Open Studios

X-Pose Treasure Hunt is a search with a difference – the aim is to visit as many artist studios as possible.  Forming part of Deptford X, this month long event runs from 29 October to 27 November and gives the public a chance to see artists and their work in their studios.

X-Pose is based around a group show of artworks by members of DAN (Deptford Arts Network) to be held in the Cor Blimey Arts gallery, located on Creekside.  The treasure hunt combines a raffle where one of three artworks can be won by anyone who takes part – you must collect a card from any of the studios participating and get it stamped as you visit the different exhibitions being held for Deptford X.  Drop it in a designated box at any of the studios and it may be picked as the winner on the last day of the festival, 27 November.
